In 1962, The First Chiwawa Corporation was given water rights to take water out of the Chiwawa River for 32 homes. This was Section 1 and also known as Chiwawa River Pines.
Two years later on March 30, 1964, First Chiwawa Corporation, had their first meeting and Mr. Bruce, Mr. Hemila, and Mr. Baird attended. The meeting was held in downtown Seattle.
Meanwhile across the river, another corporation was formed. Chiwawa Communities Association, Inc. had their first meeting in Seattle on December 18, 1963. They implemented by-laws which stated there would be one membership and one vote regardless of number of lots owned. Mr. Bruce, Mr. Pope, Mr. Hemila, Mr. Howe, and Mr. Jones attended the meeting.
On March 30, 1964 the First Chiwawa Corporation implemented their by-laws which stated one vote per member regardless of number of lots owned. Three months later 7 people attended the meeting in Seattle and voted to move corporate office from Seattle to Leavenworth.
The assessment for CCA, Inc in 1965 was $1.00 a month.
First Chiwawa Corporation meetings were held in July usually on or around the 4th. It was reiterated that members shall have one vote regardless on lots owned and members could vote by proxy.
The meeting on July 4th, 1965 was held at the Chivall (secretary/treasurer) residence with Charles Wipff as President.
1967 ~ Subdivisions 4 and 5 will be recorded and purchasers will become members of CCA, Inc.
At the First Chiwawa Meeting poor member attendance was discussed.. Les Schmelzer was elected President and Francis “Tony” Gallassi was elected Vice President.
In December the office for CCA, Inc. in Leavenworth was burglarized and banking records including blank checks were taken.
First Chiwawa Corporation made a proposal to Pope & Talbot regarding tying into water system for Sections 2,3,4,5 & 6 and eliminating the #1 pump house. The water line from #2 pump would run down access road to river, under the river, and across Mr. Schmelzer’s property. First Chiwawa offered to return Lot 1, Block 1 back to Pope & Talbot as payment for the expense of water tie in. Six members were present at meeting on July 14, 1968.
On October 14, 1969 First Chiwawa Corp. and Chiwawa Communities Association, Inc. voted to merge. 29 members from First Chiwawa and 144 members from Chiwawa Communities Association, Inc. voted in person or by proxy. The Articles of Merger were drawn up and posted on December 17, 1969.
